How to log expenses and categorise them

This is where the magic of manual tracking happens. When you log every expense by hand, you become painfully aware of where your money goes. That awareness is the first step to spending less and saving more.

How to Log an Expense

  1. Go to Dashboard → Cash Flow (or tap the "+" button and select Expense)
  2. Enter the amount
  3. Choose a category:

ShoppingClothing, electronics, household items
HealthDoctor visits, medicines, gym
EducationCourses, books, tuition

InsurancePremiums for health, life, vehicle

  2. Add an optional note (e.g., "Swiggy dinner" or "Monthly electricity bill")
  3. Tap Save

The Power of Manual Expense Tracking

Here is what happens when you track expenses manually:

  • You think twice before spending — knowing you have to log it creates a natural pause
  • You spot patterns — that ₹200/day coffee habit is ₹6,000/month
  • You feel the pain — typing "₹4,500 — Zomato" at the end of the month stings in a way that an auto-categorised notification never will

This is the core philosophy of FlowTrack: if tracking hurts, you change.

Tip

Log expenses as they happen, not at the end of the day. The longer you wait, the more you forget. Keep FlowTrack on your home screen for quick access.

Custom Categories

If the default categories do not fit your life, you can create custom ones:

  1. Go to Settings → Categories
  2. Tap "Add Category"
  3. Name it and assign an icon
  4. Your custom category will now appear in the expense logging screen
