Tips for your first bulk data entry session

Your first session adding all your financial data to FlowTrack might feel overwhelming. You have bank accounts, investments, loans, insurance, property — it is a lot. But with a little preparation, you can get everything entered in 20 to 30 minutes.

Before You Start

Gather these on your phone or laptop:

  • Bank apps — open your savings account apps to check balances
  • Investment platforms — Zerodha, Groww, or your broker app for stock and MF values
  • Loan statements — check your home loan, car loan, or personal loan outstanding balance
  • UAN portal — for your EPF balance
  • Property estimate — a rough idea of your property's current market value
  • Gold weight — if you have physical gold, know the approximate weight in grams

Tip

You do not need to have every number perfectly accurate. Estimates are fine for your first session. You can refine values later.

Follow this order for the smoothest experience:

Step 1: Add Your Bank Accounts (2 minutes)

Start with your primary savings account, then add salary accounts, joint accounts, and any other bank balances. These are the easiest — just check your balance and enter it.

Step 2: Add Fixed Deposits and Recurring Deposits (2 minutes)

Enter each FD with its current value (principal + accrued interest if known).

Step 3: Add Investments (5 minutes)

This takes the longest. Add:

  • Mutual fund portfolio value (check CAMS or Kfintech for consolidated value)
  • Stock portfolio value (check your demat account)
  • Bonds, if any
  • Digital gold, sovereign gold bonds

Step 4: Add Retirement Accounts (2 minutes)

  • EPF balance (from UAN portal or recent payslip)
  • NPS balance (from CRA portal)
  • PPF balance (from your bank or post office)

Step 5: Add Property and Physical Assets (3 minutes)

  • Estimated market value of property (not purchase price)
  • Physical gold (weight in grams — FlowTrack calculates the value)
  • Vehicles (current resale value, not purchase price)

Step 6: Add All Liabilities (5 minutes)

  • Home loan outstanding
  • Car loan outstanding
  • Credit card balance
  • Personal loans
  • Education loans
  • Any other debt

Step 7: Review Your Net Worth (1 minute)

Go to your dashboard and see your net worth. This is the first time you are seeing your complete financial picture in one place.

Common First-Session Mistakes

MistakeFix
Using purchase price instead of current valueAlways enter today's value. A flat you bought for ₹50 lakh that is now worth ₹80 lakh should be entered as ₹80 lakh.
Forgetting EPFEPF is often the second-largest asset for salaried Indians. Do not skip it.
Ignoring small loansThat ₹30,000 you owe your friend? Add it. Complete data beats perfect data.
Trying to be too preciseRounding to the nearest ₹1,000 is fine for most assets. You can refine later.
